Basic skills as an Internet user and web surfer.
This course will cover the basics of website design. Use of web page editor software (e.g. Nvu) makes it easy to produce your first web pages. Learning a little about the html code that underlies the pages will help you advance to make more elaborate page designs. Students will design basic web pages, link pages together to make basic websites, set up an account with an Internet service provider and upload their pages to make them available on the world wide web.
Here are some examples of websites that I have designed recently (Davis Adult School) (BRT Computer Consulting) (Death Valley National Park Camping Hiking 2005).
The future of the Internet will be more interactive - everybody can participate! Blogs provide website templates that enable people to post pages on the Internet with little or no html code skill. Blogs also enable readers to interact by leaving their comments on the pages. Here is my blog site (BRT Insights). Wikis are websites that are built through community efforts. Everybody can register and become a contributor on many wikis. Little or no html code skill is required. The Davis Wiki has grown to become a considerable resource. Here is my personal page at Davis Wiki.
