Scenery - Death Valley

Flowers were blooming on the alluvial fans of sand and gravel that extend from the bottoms of the mountains. Toxic salt pans on the floor of Death Valley provided a stark contrast in scenery.

Down south in the Ashford Mill area (topo map) there were incredible displays of Desert Gold flowers in bloom. Notice the throngs of people who came out to see this beautiful scenery. Ashford Mill is 40 mi south of Furnace Creek Campground. BTP3250097c.jpg

White Top Mountain (topo map) in the Cottonwood Mountains. These Cottonwood Mountains make up the northern end of the Panamint Range (north of Hwy 190)(map-n). Note the alluvial fans of sand and gravel that come out from the little canyons and extend out from the base of the mountains. BTP3260049c.jpg
