Sunday Sept 12, 1999. I picked up mom at the Sacramento airport and we headed directly north on Interstate 5 to Canyonville, OR.

 

Monday. We went west toward the coast, stopping to pick blackberries at Covered Bridge wayside. Reaching the coast at Bandon, we continued north through foggy weather to Lincoln City, OR.

 

Tuesday. Continuing north along the foggy coast, we took the tour at the Tillamok Cheese factory. The sun broke through in the afternoon, so we spent some time on the beaches at Oswald West St Pk, Hug Point St Pk, and Ecola St Pk. Then we continued north to Astoria, OR.

Wednesday. Touring in the Astoria area on another foggy day we visited the Columbia River Maritime Museum, Astoria Column, Fort Astoria, Shiveley Park and Fort Clatsop, winter camp of the Lewis & Clark expedition. We stayed again in Astoria, OR.
