Sunday. We went to Olympic National Park - Elwha region on the north side of the park. We hiked the Nature Loop Trail at Elwha Campground, and had lunch by the river at Altaire Campground. Then we drove up the steep and dusty Whiskey Bend Road and hiked the Elwha River Trail to MIchael's Cabin. We stayed at Port Angeles, WA.

Monday. We went to Olympic National Park - Hurricane Ridge. We hiked the the Meadow Trail and crossed a slippery snow bank left over from the 2x normal snow accumulation of last winter's La Nina weather. Mom needed her walking stick to keep her balance. There were lots of wildflowers on the Hurricane Ridge Trail. There was some debate about whether mom was lost or I was lost, but we found each other before too many Park Rangers were enlisted to help. The dirt road to Obstruction Point was incredible, with panoramic views of Mount Olympus and ending very close to the snowfields on the eastern edge of the range. Then we drove to the town of Shelton, WA.
